Analytics controls
When Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity is enabled on this publication, analytics is on by default. It helps me understand which pages people read, where visits come from, which affiliate links people click, and where the site is difficult to use. You can turn both services off together at any time in Cookie settings in the footer.
Google Analytics can process information about your browser, device, page visits, referral source, and interactions. This integration keeps advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization consent denied. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy.
Microsoft Clarity can process information about page visits and interactions to provide session recordings and heatmaps. This integration keeps advertising storage denied. Read Microsoft's privacy statement.
Remembering an opt-out
If you turn analytics off, we store that preference in this browser's local storage. Clearing your browser's site data also removes the preference. When analytics is not configured, we do not display Cookie settings or load a tag.
Change your choice
Use Cookie settings in the footer whenever analytics is configured. Choosing Turn off analytics stops both services, removes this integration's accessible Google Analytics cookies, asks Clarity to deny analytics storage, and reloads the page. Turning analytics back on resumes both services. Changing your choice does not delete data already collected by Google or Microsoft.
Affiliate links
An affiliate link takes you to another website, which has its own privacy and cookie practices. While analytics is on, we may record a click on a link marked as sponsored. The custom click event excludes the destination's query string and fragment.
